Aix en Provence & Paul Cézanne

Aix en Provence, the old capital of the region of Provence in France, is a beautiful city whose most famous child has been the impressionist painter Paul Cézanne, a pupil of Pissarro’s.

The landscapes of Provence inspired Cézanne, who depicted his homeland in his pictures with his characteristic style.

In Aix en Provence, everything bears the artist’s name, from small metal stones on the pavements, to store inscriptions, to a school and a movie theatre called Le Cézanne.

Αnother famous French personality spent his childhood here; it was the writer Émile Zola, a close friend of Cézanne’s.
